  • What is ICT Business Idea Competition?
    The ICT Business Idea Competition is to attract the innovative minds of Mauritians by challenging their creativity and capacity in Business, Science and Technology.

  • What is the aim of the Competition?
    The aim of the competition is to create a new type of successful Technopreneurs that take charge of their own destinies to become their own boss and create employment opportunities for the good of the community.

  • When will the ICT Business Idea Competition take place?
    The competition will start as from 19th September 2013. Deadline for Submission of ICT Business Idea Competition Online Registration form is by 16th October 2013. Once your registration form is validated, you will be invited to submit the ICT Business Idea Submission form which will be sent to you by mail. All the ICT Business Idea Competition online submission form should reach us by 28th November 2013. Information about exact dates and places of events will be provided later..

  • Who can participate in the ICT Business Idea Competition?
    The ICT Business Idea Competition is open to teams comprising of undergraduates, graduates, postgraduates, researchers, IT and ITES professionals, academics and non-academics.

  • What should I do if I don’t have a team?
    If you don’t have a team, you can still participate as an Individual.
    You can participate as an Individual, if you feel that you will be able to submit your business idea and business plan as an individual and you do not require a team. Just fill up the online Registration Form available on the website of NCB Technopreneurship Programme, and leave the Team details empty. But you need to give a name to your project.

  • The Competition welcomes which types of ideas?
    The Competition welcomes business ideas related to Information and Communication Technology focusing particularly in the development of technology solutions that will improve Lives by making it easier for citizens of Mauritius to have access to Health, Education, Finance, Agriculture, Public Safety and key Government Services through the use of Technology.

  • How to participate in the ICT Business Idea Competition?
    • To participate in the ICT Business Idea Competition there is need for a team of up to a maximum of 4 members. The team leader must fill the online registration form and submit by 16th October 2013.
    • If you are participating as an Individual, you must fill the online registration form, leaving the Team Details section empty and submit by 16th October 2013.

  • How many stages the ICT Business Idea Competition have?
    ICT Business Idea Competition will be conducted in 3 stages

  • What are the objectives of the ICT Business Idea Competition?
    The Objectives of the Business Idea Competition are:
    • To inculcate a culture of Technopreneurship among our undergraduates, graduates, postgraduates, researchers, IT and ITES professionals, academics and non academics. 
    • To provide exposure and knowledge of key competencies required in becoming successful technopreneurs.
    • To encourage undergraduates, graduates, postgraduates, researchers, IT and ITES professionals, academics and non-academics from diverse backgrounds to share their business ideas, and form teams to leverage on both technology and business competencies.
    • To identify commercially viable ideas for development into Technopreneurs and to promote broadband usage in Mauritius.

  • What will be the prizes for the winners?
    Each Year winner will be awarded a challenge Trophy to hold for one year before passing on to the following year’s winner.
    The table below shows the prizes in cash that will be given to the finalists of the ICT Business Idea Competition. Cash Prizes will be offered to the winners of the Business Idea Competition:

  • What about the Teams? How many people can form part of a team?
    The team must comprise of up to a maximum of 4 members with any combination of undergraduate, graduate, postgraduate, researchers, IT and ITES professionals, academics and non–academics.

    Your Team must have a Name and a Team Leader. The Team Leader must be the representative of the team and he will be the contact person in case of necessity regarding the ICT Business Idea Competition.

  • What background I must have to participate?
    As the competition welcomes Business Idea in ICT, at least one member must have an IT background followed by other members from other background depending on the idea selected, if you have a team.

    Otherwise if you are participating as an Individual, you must have an IT background.

  • What are the submission dates?

    All the Online Registration Forms should be submitted to National Computer Board by 16th October 2013.

Once your Registration Form is validated you will be invited to submit the ICT Business Idea Submission Form which will be sent to you by mail. All the ICT Business Idea Submission Form should reach by 28th November 2013.

  • When the Final & Award Ceremony will take place?
    Information about exact dates and venue of the Award ceremony will be provided later.

  • What are the submission guidelines?
    All ICT Business Ideas must be in accordance with the ICT Business Idea Competition Online Submission Forms that will be sent to you by mail.
